Roses & Writing

I've been spending a lot of time this spring updating my garden, and I'm super happy with the results even though I'm not completely done yet. :o) I made the difficult decision (it was difficult for me, but easy for my husband) to tear out nearly all the plants in my outdoor raised planter. I hated doing it, but I knew it had to be done.

I'm one of those people who likes to have plant life around them. Greenery is much needed when you live in the desert. Aside from the several plants within my home I like to have a lush looking backyard, but the past summer heat and harsh winter killed nearly everything I had outside. :o(

All that I ended up being left with was one rose bush and my pomegranate tree bush, it's not quite a tree yet,  but getting there.

Anyway, fast forward to yesterday and I now have a full (well..full according to my husband. If I had my way my backyard would look a jungle) planter. I now have 6 rose bushes, 1 strawberry plant, 1 poblano pepper plant, and 1 large pomegranate bush! I think by next year I will be able to eat a pomegranate from my own tree! Plus! I have plotted out a spot to plant a lemon tree! Who doesn't like fresh lemonade on a hot summer day?? It gets hot enough here in the summer (100+) that I'm going to want lemonade every day!

What I'm most excited about my garden, besides the many butterflies that have come to visit is the 2 amazing roses that were last additions to the garden planter. Their colors are absolutely amazing and they smell like heaven.

Seriously, have you seen anything so awesome!? A stripped rose?! It's blowing my mind! LOL

Moving forward to the writing part of my post, I'm working on two projects at once at the moment, which may prove to be too much but for now I'm going to keep plugging along. The third book in my Dystopian series is coming along and I hope to have it out by this summer. I'm excited to see what's in store for Abby and the gang. Undoubtedly there will be lots of scary baddies, and maybe a splash of romance, but mostly overall scariness. LOL

My other project is still sort of a secret, and honestly I haven't yet decided if it's going to be under a pen name or not yet. It's a new novel in a completely new genre. Heck, I'm not sure if I'll even publish it 'cause I haven't an inkling if I'm any good at writing in that genre but I'm trying anyways. Wish me luck!
